Swans at Hedgecourt Lake

Swans

On New Years Eve a swan was found at Hedgecourt with hooks embedded in its neck. The description of the tackle seems to indicate a terminal rig for dead baiting. A charity that rescues swans recovered it and spent in excess of £500 on a wildlife ambulance, vets fees etc. At some point the RSPCA also became aware. Apart from the fact the swan was found at Hedgecourt there is no indication that the injury happened there or that any EGAS member was involved.

Hedgecourt is designated as a site of special scientific interest and we do not want to jeopardise our rights to fish there. Could you please ensure that you remove any discarded tackle from the bankside whether it’s yours or not.
